Our SEN policy and information report aims to:

Set out how our school will support and make provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEND)

Explain the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in providing for pupils with SEND

Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.

Increase the extent to which pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can participate in the curriculum.

Show that everyone is valued, respected, nurtured and encouraged to fulfil their potential within a supportive, caring, inclusive environment.

Support any available partnerships to develop and implement the policy.

Who best to talk to about SEND concerns:

Your child’s class teacher:

• Monitors day to day progress, identifying areas of concern, planning and delivering additional help and alerting parents and the school SENDCo of concerns as they arise. • Will write individual targets/support plans and review these termly. • Ensure the SEND policy is followed within class.

The SENDCo (Miss Rowell):

• Coordinate and advise on additional support and strategies to support children. • Coordinate support for all children with SEND. • Liaise with external agencies as the need arises. • Maintain the school SEND register and ensure the policy remains up to date. • Offer specialist support to teachers relating to SEND and monitor the progress of identified pupils.

The SEND Governor (Sue McNeily):

• Ensures the necessary available support is provided to SEND pupils attending the school.

The Local Offer:

Following the publication of the Child and Families Act (2014), Local Authorities and schools have been required to publish and keep under review, information about services for children and young people with SEND (0-25) can expect to be available. This is known as the Local offer. The aim on the local offer is to improve choice and transparency for families, in addition to being a resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision available in the local area.
