We are committed to ensuring quality play opportunities are available to our children.
We believe that play is essential for physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development and of course to children's well-being.
In our school, play is any freely chosen activity which a child finds satisfying and creative.  It may or may not involve equipment or other people.  It might be serious or light hearted.  It may produce something or it may be done simply for its own sake.  it allows children an opportunity to be creative and make decisions.
Our school council think that play should be...
"FUN!"                "a time for loosening up"                 "a time to try new things"
They think that when you are playing you should see...
"people smiling"       and          "children mixing and helping each other"
We are working with OPAL to support the development of our playtimes, to make them as good as they can be.  If you would like to learn more about OPAL at Eppleton please read our Play Policy below.
Ulitmately, playtime is really good fun at Eppleton Academy.  Just take a look...

Mrs Lawrance

Play Leader

Mrs Lawrance is our Office Administrator but is also a Playworker and leads our OPAL playtimes. She and the lunchtime team work together to give the children the best possible playtimes we can. Children learn so much through play so we feel it is vital in their physical and social development, to offer them as much as we can. We are so happy you have all been able to support us with this and can see the changes in your child's approach to play.

Mrs Moss

Play Worker

Mrs Moss is a play worker assigned to OPAL over lunchtimes. She works alongside Mrs Lawrance to help plan and develop playtime for the children. Mrs Lawrance is very passionate about OPAL and really enjoys it, there fore she is able to give it her all and make it wonderful for the children.
